Harm reduction programs provide non-judgmental health and safety information under the recognition that many people are going to choose to experiment with drugs despite all the risks involved. Harm reduction information and services help people make educated decisions.
No drug use is entirely safe--all drug use contains inherent risks. Most people who choose to experiment with drugs realize that risks are involved, but often do not know what all those risks are. We provide information on the risks, as well as ways to reduce those risks if one chooses to experiment.
Those who exaggerate or lie about the dangers of drugs lose the trust of people, who will disbelieve all warnings or risks they said about drug use. Truthful drug education is much more effective in reducing the use and abuse of drugs among young people than scare tactics or lies.

Each DanceSafe chapter is a group of volunteers within the local electronic music community who have a sincere interest in bettering their communities and educating themselves and their peers. Volunteers staff harm reduction tables at events where they provide information on drugs, safer sex, and other health and safety issues concerning the electronic dance community. The main focus of each DanceSafe chapter involves setting-up harm reduction tables or booths at electronic music events, nightclubs and music festivals. We distribute literature, drinking water, condoms, earplugs and answer questions for those attending the event.
Volunteers share a commitment to our mission and we welcome those regardless of their background, ethnic origin, race, sexual orientation, or gender. Volunteers put aside personal agendas, egos, and any differences to help support DanceSafe and our mission. Every DanceSafe volunteer is valuable and we appreciate, recognize, and never take for granted the time they donate. Volunteers provide our organization with credibility, insight, perspective, diversity and expertise that helps DanceSafe fulfill our mission.
Access and chance to travel to other volunteers / chapters with in the DanceSafe network all over the US & Canada! Attend conferences with related subject matter, like Drug Policy Alliance, Harm Reduction, Travel to large music festivals and get to be a part of the EDM community on a different level--behind the scenes. Help write new drug info cards or blogs for dancesafe.org. Give input on how DanceSafe can improve as an organization or how we can better serve our communities.
